  • Oh! How about we tax the colonists. We can tax any kind of paper and we can call it the Stamp Act.
  • Your highness, the French and Indian War has emptied all of our treasury. We have to act before it's too late,

  • What will we say to the colonists?
  • We can just tell the colonists that we protected them in the French and Indian War and now they have to pay us back by paying taxes.
  • Colonist POV
  • Hear Ye! Hear Ye! As per the king's order, all colonists will need to pay a tax on all paper goods!
  • Stamp Act Passed: All MUST pay taxes!
  • Taxes!?
  • We have to pay taxes now!
  • Oh no!
  • After winning the  French and Indian War, Britain had a big debt. So, they decided to pass the Stamp Act which made the Colonists pay taxes on anything that was made of paper.
  • Colonist POV
  • We need to gather everyone to make a protest against the Stamp Act!
  • Stamp Act passed: The king has ordered that all colonists must pay taxes on any printed paper.
  • It isn't fair since there should be no Taxation without representation!
  • Parliament under the guidance of King George lll passed the Stamp Act of 1765 taxing all the paper documents printed in London.

  • "Give me liberty, or give me death!"
  • The British Government passed the Stamp Act in which all the 13 colonies were required to pay taxes on commercial and legal papers including newspapers, deeds, playing cards, etc.
  • British Reaction
  • I'm tired of the protests by the colonists. It's know the time to repeal the stamp act. We'll have to think of another way to earn money.
  • People began to raise their voices against the Stamp Act. Spirits rose, and sayings like "No taxation without representation," began spreading.
  • Lets boycott British products!
  • Patrick Henry, a well-known lawyer from Virginia, known today for his popular quote, "Give me liberty, or give me death." He explained to people that the Parliament had no right to tax the colonies without their approval. He asked them to gather and protest.
  • Seeing all of the protests made by the colonists, the king was forced to repeal the stamp act.
