- Haley went on vacation with her boyfriend and his family to Vail, Colorado. It took over two days to get to Colorado from East Texas, but the beautiful scenery made up for the distance.
- Under 6,000 ft
- Haley and the Allen family were walking down the streets of Vail and they saw the mountains in the distance and made the spontaneous decision to climb a 14,000 ft mountain. They all decided that it would be an adventure and challenging, so why not!
- Over 12,000 ft
- The two young couples, Haley and Leyton along with Sarah and Luke, woke up the next morning at 5:45am and started the strenuous, 11-hour hike. The elevation gain was difficult to acclimate to, so the couples had to pace themselves as they hiked. Leyton and Luke have climbed two mountains previously, but Haley and Sarah have never attempted a hike of this level, but they were determined to keep up.
- 14,000 ft !
- As the four of them trudged up the incline, but they forgot their weariness when they noticed the view. The different vibrant oranges, light pink, and rich red filled the sky—a view like no other. After admiring in the breathtaking view, the four set their minds back on the task ahead of them.
- At around 12,000 feet, they reached the rocks, which were close to the peak of the mountain. They passed the tree line and they could see the top; it seemed like they could almost reach out and touch it with their exhausted arms. Haley was thrilled to see the top, and she wanted to reach the top first.
- Once they passed the rocks, Haley was the first to make it to the peak of Mt. of the Holy Cross. All four of them were ecstatic to reach the summit of the 14,000 ft mountain. All the physical and mental strain was well worth it. Haley realized that she can push herself much further than she thought and she felt incredibly accomplished. Throughout that 11 hour hike, all four of them made many memories they will never forget.
