- What actions do they take?
- Jude takes action in the story by working extra shifts to help Reese pay for surgery, "She could never tell him, not until she'd saved so much money that he would be foolish to refuse it" (Bennett 130). Here Jude decides to help Reese financially without him asking. The initiative taken here points to Jude's character overall.
- What is something the character cannot do?
- Something Jude cannot do is be honest about her intentions, specifically with the theater job "It's not and you know it" (Bennett 236). Reese says this to Jude because she says the theater job is for side money, which is not true. Her dishonesty about her intentions pop up throughout the story.
- Jude poorly manages her emotions, taking her anger from Stella onto Kennedy, "No, your mother's crazy. She's been lying to you your whole life" (Bennett 252). Jude's attack on Kennedy was left over feelings from Stella's rejection. This lack of control is an example of her poor emotional regulation.
- What do they do poorly?
