- Verbal Communication
- Hi Imani, I am Linda and I will be your nurse today. Can you explain to me when the pain in your tummy started?
- Hi, my name is Imani. I came in today because my tummy hurts really bad! My mom tells me to drink ginger ale but it still hurts.
- Non-Verbal Communication
- Imani and Nurse Linda are displaying verbal communication by discussing what brought Imani in to the doctor's office. Imani is being clear and expressing how her stomach feels. Nurse Linda is assessing the patient by collecting more information.
- Imani starts to cry and becomes upset. Nurse Linda tries to evaluate Imani's pain level, but Imani just continues to cry. Imani is expressing nonverbal communication by her facial expressions and her body movement. Nurse Linda is showing nonverbal communication trying to comfort her.
