- As my daughter slid down the metal slide, her face slowly turned into a frown than a blood curdling screech came from her lips

- I quickly rushed to her side to check what's wrong
- "Mommy I hurt myself really badly. AM I GOING TO DIE?"

- After quickly examining her injury, I determined the injury was a minor skid, an Abrasions to be specific. A small laugh escaped my lips.
- "Far from it honey, it's just a minor burn. Let's go home and get it taking care of."

- "Now that you've got comfortable, let's get that injury taking of. Make sure you pant attention, you may this in the future."

- 1. Clean the abrasion by rinsing it with lukewarm or cool water along with mild soap. You can also use an antibacterial cleanser.

- 2. Apply pressure to bleeding wounds to help stop the bleeding of scrapes or cuts, apply direct pressure using a sterile bandage, a clean cloth, or a piece of gauze.

- 3. Apply a topical antibiotic (such as neomycin or bacitracin) to prevent infection and to keep the wound moist.

- 4. Dress the wound to help keep the wound from drying out, providing a moist environment conducive for healing.

- 5. Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly or antibiotic ointment.
