Texte du Storyboard

  • I'm so alone.
  • Can you spare some change?
  • Leave me be...
  • Your majesty, your rule as been phenomenal, the best I've seen. Can you spare me some change?
  • Sure, peasant, here is some change.
  • The color of your boots is putrid; we must change all soldiers boots to black.
  • As a child, Louis XIV was very neglected. His family wouldn't even come near his bedroom. He thought back to these times with great bitterness. This could have influenced him to become King and take up Absolutist ways because if he was all ruling and couldn't be questioned, then he would not have to face being alone, questioned, or neglected again.
  • Without me all the ministers would be useless.
  • Louis XIV enjoyed and, generally, only appreciated the company of those who praised him. There was nothing that he appreciated more than his praise and other generals used this against him so they could have him agree to their ideas. This shows why he wanted everyone to believe he was appointed by God and he should be treated as the Sun God because he is so helpful. He wanted greater praise, so he initiated absolutist policies.
  • What happened at the Jones family home today?
  • They are still arguing over their inheritances after their father's death.
  • Louis XIV focused on many little details. He wanted everything to be perfect in his mind, so he wanted everyone to do exactly what he wanted. This is another reason that he initiated absolutism rule on his monarch. He wasn't satisfied by regular rule, he needed absolute control to be satisfied. Controlling everything down to the detail was the only way he remained satisfied with his rule.
  • It's okay, you can use my money; go buy something nice.
  • Oh no! I left my wallet at the court.
  • Louis XIV truly believed that those under him in political power were only great because they were puppets for the ideas he emphasized. This shows his ideas of absolutism because he believed that he made the careers of these people and without him, they'd be useless; this is comparable to people of religion who believe they are only living because of God. He was so full of himself that he believed he had more power than he actually did.
  • Louis XIV wanted to know how to react to certain people to further elaborate on his complete rule. He would keep tabs on private issues going on in society or homes. He would then punish people unexpectedly. This once again shows that he did not want others to have any control, and he wanted his rule to be in effect everywhere. To put it in perspective, these same ideas were used in the Chinese dictatorship.
  • Louis XIV allowed those in court to rely on this money. He wasn't focused on how this was ruining the economy of the country, but he only focused on the centralized government and its power/image. He wanted those in the court to use more money than they earned and spend it on luxury items. He only focused on the government and its power.
