  • In Charlestown on June 17, 1775, the British won the Battle of Bunker Hill. This Battle was the first battle of the American Revolution. It shaped the war by proving that a threatening force could have a victory by itself. Also, it showed everyone that the war was going to be long and there would be no instant solution. This made everyone aware that there was no turning back.
  • Saratoga
  • In New York on September 21, 1776, New York city started to burn on the west side. The fire burned down 25% of the city. The fire was set by the American forces who wanted to interfere with the British controlling the city. There wasn't really a winner, however, Britain did stay in New York until the end of the war.
  • Valley Forge
  • The battle of Trenton took place In December 1776 around Christmas time in New Jersey and New york. The British army exceeded in these states because of how big and skilled they were. After the defeat, they managed to capture everyone with not many losses. This battle repaired the American morals, which were at a low point after all their defeats.
  • Yorktown
  • The battle of saratoga was fought in October 1777 at saratoga In New York state. The British campaign failed and this was the turning point of the Revolutionary War. The American Forces were the ones who won against the British during this time. France and other foreign powers gave support to the Americans and joined the war as well.
  • In the winter of 1777-1778, the Continental Army and George Washington camped in Valley Forge. Troops went through starvation, cold harsh conditions, and diseases. Even though they were weak, Washington held the army together. The army heard that France was entering the war on the American side and they left around springtime in 1778. After they left, the army was able to recapture Philadelphia.
  • In October 1781, General Charles Cornwallis left his army in terrible conditions and went to Virginia City. The French American army took and defeated Cornwallis and his army. This battle stopped the British military operations in America and was the last major battle in the Revolutionary War
