- What is mining? Mining is a process where minerals and other materials are extracted using different tactics. 2.
- Good Morning. I am Burt Robertson. With channel 1 news at 6. This evening we will be discussing the effects of mining on our precious environment as well as the benefits of mining.1.
- Mining is a useful thing! It is the reason we have electricity and reliable energy. It is also the reason for today’s infrastructures.
- Along with the positives of mining there are also negatives. In the process of mining they use water to extract minerals, as well as to process minerals, control dust and recover metals. All this water is now polluted and will flow into local lakes and rivers.
- The first type of mining is called strip mining. This is when miners scrape away rocks and the earth to extract the material. Sometimes, they explode tops of mountains causing the chemicals and minerals to get into water and polluting it. Strip mining can badly harm aquatic ce systems.
- to begin mining, there needs to be a clear workspace. For this to happen the mining companies start a process called deforestation this harms the wildlife. Any animals that lived in the trees have either died or relocated.
- Mining is drilling into the earth, or excavating the earth. When you drill into the earth dust does everywhere, sometimes it’s so bad it imparts vison. This creates poor air quality around the mine site . Using the equipment around the mines also create pollution as they are powered by gas which creates pollution. Thus contributes to global warming.
- what you are probably thinking , is how can we limit all this pollution? The answer is simple. We need to invest in more sustainable mining technology, properly cleaning and disposing of waste. Toxic waste is the biggest problem in mining.
- what do I think about the issue? I think the mining process is important to the economy but it is really messy and destroys our environment. Where I’m standing is an old mining site, you can see how there is barely any lives plants or animals . This is a prime example of mining these days.
