- Wow! Look at all this fertile land! This land would be perfect for farming. I could grow lots of crops and make lots of money!
- Hi! I'm a planter. I am part of the group of the wealthiest people in the south. I own over 20 slaves for my plantation. I make up a small percentage of the South's population.
- Hi! I'm a slave. I am part of the group of people who have no rights or freedoms and are treated as non-humans. I make up most of the South's population.
- Hi! Since I'm a planter, I make my money from my plantations. I run the plantations, but I don't do any of the work.
- Hi! I'm a slave. I work on the plantation. I don't make money from working on the plantation, but I do get housing and food.
- I'm a slave, so I am at the bottom of the social pyramid. I have no rights and am treated like property. My owner, a planter, is at the top of the social pyramid. He dominates the social and political life.
- Since the South has such fertile soil and long summers, the South has developed into a agriculturally dominated society.
- Because the South was so successful with farming, nobody saw the need to pursue industrial development. This led to the South's economy being heavily based around agriculture,  This led to the South having a slower development compared to the North's because of the North's industrial based economy.
