- Ultrasound students meeting Mrs. Adams in the waiting room for ward patients brought with a porter.
- Okay, thank you Maria.
- Good morning Mrs. Adams. I'm Maria a 1st year sonography student. I'm going to push you into the ultrasound room where I will explain what we will be doing today.
- Student gathering the final details needed to continue the Ultrasound examination.
- Thank you. I see you are here for a ultrasound of your Right leg, so we will just need to fold your duvet over so that I can see your full leg, is that fine?
- Mrs Adams, can you please confirm your full name and birth date?
- Yes that will be okay, thank you.

- Explaining what the student sonographer will be doing.

- No mam, it will not. You will only feel a bit of pressure as the probe glides along your skin. But do let me know if it is painful in some areas.
- You will feel the warm gel on your skin along with the probe which I am just going to be gliding over your leg with a little bit of pressure and stopping at certain places to capture an image.
- So it will not hurt?
- Okay, will do.
- Student sonographer tells the patient that the images captured will be sent to her doctor/radiologist for diagnoses.

- So, I am done with the ultrasound now. I'm going to be sending the images to the radiologist and he will be in shortly to see you.
- Why is the radiologist coming to see me? Is something wrong?
- Student explains her role within the department and what we are/are not qualified to do.

- Yes mam, after the doctor has seen you , I will call the porter and push you back to the waiting room.
- No need to worry mam, the radiologist is a doctor, certified to share the results and findings or lack thereof with you. I on the other hand just take the images.
- I understand. So I just stay here until the doctor comes?
- Student sonographer wheels patient back to the ward waiting room after she has called for the porter to come and take Mrs. Adams back to her ward.
- Mam, I have called the porter to come and take you back to your ward. He will be here shortly.
- You too mam, bye bye.
- Thank you Maria , have a good day.
- I understand. So I just stay here until the doctor comes?
