  • Gold, gold in the faraway land of California, I must leave. I promise to make money there and help you.
  • We have no food and we live in poverty in China, you must go soon for Gold Mountain in America!
  • Many Chinese left their poverty stricken homeland for a more promising life in the gold rich land of California in America. It was known to the Chinese as the "Gold Mountain".
  • America! Where people are free. Tell me what it's like when you come back.
  • The Chinese aren't the only ones paying your taxes. Give all foreigners rights!
  • The gold rich lands of California are for Americans, the white man! Not you!
  • I will not give up on America, nor on this dream.
