- Daniel was a duck in pre-historic times. He was able to fly, swim and walk. Danial and his family had big teeth that did not filter out the food that they fished for
- One day Daniel met another duck. Her name was Katie. Katie was also able to fly, swim and walk except Katie and her family had smaller, skinnier teeth so when they fished for food their teeth helped to filter out the food and the water
- Daniel and his family became very hungry because they were not able to catch food with their big teeth.
- However, Katie and her family did not feel hungry because their skinny teeth allowed them to filter out food that they fished for
- Daniels family began to feel very sick and unfortunately passed away from the lack of ability to catch food. All the other ducks with big teeth like Daniels family also passed away
- Katie explained to the other ducks that lived with them that this is called natural selection. All future ducks would have skinny teeth to help them filter out food. This is because animals that have traits that help them survive in their environment thrive and animals that dont have the traits needed to survive are not able to live happily
