Theodore Brewster Taylor or Ted Taylor was an American theoretical physicist, his specified the area of nuclear energy and atomic weapons.
He was born in 1925 in Mexico City, Mexico. From 1943 to 1946 he spent those years to serve on active duty in the United States Navy.
He then graduated with a bachelor's degree in physics from the California Institute of Technology in 1945. After, he obtained a master degree from the University of California Berkeley.
He receives a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Cornell University in 1954.
In 1956, he left Los Alamos to work on General Atomic. He directed Project Orion which consisted on developing a nuclear-powered interplanetary spacecraft.
Taylor worked at A Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico from 1948-1956. In that time, he designed fission bombs of minimal size and maximal explosion capacity.
In 1964, Taylor served as the director of the Defense Atomic Support Agency. To then in 1980, start a company called Nova Inc. to develop nuclear energy alternative. In October 28th of 2004, he passed way at the age of 79.
