- This is Eriksons 2nd stage Autonomy vs. Shame (2-4 years old). During this timeJulie will learn to complete independent tasks and discover herself in order to build self confidence. Julie is building her self confidence by going down the slide all on her own.

- Identity vs. Role Confusion, Adolescence12-20 years
- This is Eriksons 5th stage, Identity vs. Role confusion, Adolescence (13-19 years old). During this time, Julie will learn from her peers and social surroundings. Julies desire to find an identity can be complex and cause role confusion if caused to conform to parents beliefs.

- This is Eriksons 6th stage: Intimacy vs. Isolation, Early Adulthood (20-40 years). During this time Julie understands relationships and desires a long term commitment as a sign of success and happiness. Julia is getting proposed to signifying long term commitment.
