- Hey look, I think Tom Hanks just walked by our tomato plants!
- Awesome!
- Yep, Id bet that our plants would love some carbon dioxide. They have organelles called chloroplasts that make usable energy through photosynthesis.
- There he goes!He sure was breathing out a lot of carbon dioxide!
- Photosynthesis is also how were able to breathe. Don't forget that plants need light energy in order to produce glucose and oxygen!
- 2 weeks later...
- Wait, hold on. If plants absorb carbon dioxide, do you think our plants absorbed carbon dioxide from Tom Hanks when he walked past them?
- Maybe...
- Wow, these tomatoes look good! Im glad we gave them enough water and carbon dioxide.

- Thanks for making all that ATP mitochondria. All of that cellular respiration will really help the cell function!

- Wow, this extra carbon dioxide really produces more glucose for me to turn into ATP!

- This is useful for things like lactic acid fermentation and alcohol fermentation.
- And be sure to remember that if there is a limited supply of oxygen, you can perform anaerobic respiration.
