- Aunt Baba and Adeline move into the same room together. Adeline does well in school and Aunt Baba is supportive. Niang and Father move somewhere else with little sister and brother. Nai Nai also comes by sometimes.
- Nai Nai dies so they move to Tianjin with Niang and father and Adeline moves to a new school. She had a hard time during the 1st day but it is soon worked out. Adeline enjoys her time at the school because she was praised for her academic abilities. Unlike in home where she is bullied and mistreated. She is elected for class president.
- Adeline becomes class president. Although she is worried that she will be scolded for being out later than normal she is grateful for the people that voted her.
- Adeline's classmates follow her home to congratulate her for winning. They give her gifts and nice comments although Adeline is worried because one of Niang's rules are "No friends are allowed to come over.". Niang finds out and gets mad at Adeline. Adeline tries to explain to Niang that she did not invite them but Niang does not believe her.
- Adeline moves to a Sacred Heart school and orphanage. In the morning, the orphans are given eggs from their family as a sign that they miss them. Adeline does not receive any but is given an egg from her friend.
- After the years someone called her to be excused. She thinks they are sending her home. Turns out Ye Ye has died and she is now attending his funeral.
