  • I have been here for as long as I can remember
  • I am apart of the Catawba tribe.
  • The French arrives to North America
  • We are willing to trade with you guys!

  • Many people automatically think that Christopher Columbus was the man who discovered and settled in America first. That was not true at all. Many Native American tribes across the land was already settled and had civilizations. In this case the Native Americans did not see North America as the "New World."
  • Ohio River Valley
  • Shortly after Christopher Columbus traveled to North America, the French ships along with the Spanish ships came sailing to North America. The French claimed the darker green and red portion as their territory. The Spanish claimed the lighter green and the dark blue portion as their territory. In a friendly manner the French traded goods with the Native Americans.
  • The French and Native American's respond
  • This is our land! They will not take it from us.
  • Following the French and the Spanish, there came the British. The British settled colonies along the east coast of North America. These colonies included Georgia, South Carolina,North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania,Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Those are the 13 colonies. The colonies were spit into 3 different groups, The Southern Colonies, The middle colonies, and the New England colonies.
  • The war begans
  • Quickly the British Colonies became overpopulated. Due to the colonies being overpopulated, people wanted to move to the Ohio River Valley. The people stuck by this even if they didn't know how the Native Americans and the French would respond.
  • Lets move to the Ohio River Valley
  • As expected the French and the Indians did not respond well to hearing that the British colonies wanted to move to the Ohio River Valley. They were furious because they believed that land belonged to them. Since they believed that the Ohio River Valley was apart of their land, they were willing to fight for it. If they had to fight for it, than it would be the French and the Indians versus the British.
  • The French and the Native Americans stuck to their word. The French and the Native Americans went to war with the British. They began fighting over the Oio River Valley. This war was known as the French and Indian War.
