General Washington turned a retreat to a victory by flanking the British army in Princeton and attacking the army in Trenton from the east and assisting the American army west of Princeton the British waved a flag and moved to NJ. The battle of Brandywine was a bloody battle and a loss for the Americans because the British outflanked the Americans. The battle of Saratoga is known as a major turning point in the revolution because it made the French, Spanish and Dutch join the war and help the Americans, the British lost the battle by waving a white flag cause they couldn't retreat.
