  • Hey bro, I haven't been feeling well lately- and I think I might be depressed- are there any things I should do to improve my mental wellbeing?
  • Thats alright my dude- let me give you some pointers!
  • According to a 2005-10 CDC Study, 43% of US adults with depression were obese, compared with around 24% of the total population being obese- showing a strong correlation between obesity and depression.
  • Maintaining a healthy weight and eating well can massively improve your mental wellbeing- as well as making you physically healthier!
  • Going to the gym and partaking in regular excersise releases endorphins that make you feel happier- as well as giving you a hobby where you can have fun!
  • Going to the gym or regularly excersising is also another easy step you can take too feel better!
  • Alcohol and drug consumption is highly linked with poor mood, sadness, and depression. Drinking and consuming drugs while being depressed also can make someone dependant on them as unhealthy coping mechanisms.
  • Reducing alcohol and drug consumption might be hard, but it is a very good step too take!
  • Researchers from the US National Library of Medicine found that the odds of someone experiencing moderate to severe depression was around 30% higher for people with over 6 hours of screentime per day. Unrealistic body imaging, cyberbullying, and more also make social media an even larger danger.
  • Reducing the amount of time you spend on social media and on technology in general can also do great things for your mental health.
  • Having a regular sleeping time, avoiding naps, and turning off devices more than 20 minutes before bed, all contribute too better sleep health. Better sleep health means that you can wake up energised, ready, and happy for the next day.
  • Lastly, having a consistent and healthy sleep schedule is an amazingly effective step you can take to improve yourself.
