  • Franklin was born on July 25, 1920
  • This event contributed towards the understanding of DNA’s structure and function because she could understand what is going in coal to power things and why the DNA is set to contribute that way.
  • Franklin went on to research coal 
  • She then began a three year fellowship at King's College in 1951 with Randall
  • This helped her understanding of DNA’s structure and function because while she was there she took over a project that helped take a closer look at DNA.
  • This contributed greatly towards her understanding of DNA and its structure and function because while she was doing that work independently she had been researching topics such as; figuring out that she was sure that both A and B forms of DNA had a double helix structure.
  • Randall divided work between Wilkins and Franklin in 1953
  • This helped her understand DNA by being on this research team because while she was there she would learn about a virus and figure DNA functions from that virus.
  • Franklin joined a research team on a virus in 1956
  • She had not gotten the proper credit for knowing and understanding DNA
  • by then she had already figured it out but she was not recognized correctly for how much work she did.
