- DINGDING
- Yes, somebody just tweeted at me!
- YAY! Who else is texting me?
- In this case, the DING is the UCS. Alex's excited reaction is the UCR.
- DINGDING
- Yes another Twitter notification!
- Over time, Alex's excited reaction becomes natural every time he hears a DING
- DINGDING
- The DING from people's phones is the NS since Alex developed the habit of thinking it's his phone every time he hears a loud sound. The CR is the excited reaction of Alex.
- ooo!! An Instagam notification
- Hello, Mom.
- Damn I thought that was my phone going off.
- Every time he hears a DING, he is hesitant to check his phone now which is the CS
- Alex throws his left overs in the microwave and then he hears a loud noise similar to a DING. He had an instant reaction of excitement because he thought he had a notification but is confused. Alex has the same reaction to loud noise because he assumes it's a notification which is called generalization.
