- Jonas escaped his dwelling shortly after the sky became dark and the community was still. he passed all of the buildings he had seen every day of his life, but he had no regrets about leaving, The giver had made a very distinct plan, but Jonas couldn't leave Gabe. He knew he would be released the next morning, and he couldn't leave him to die. So he grabbed him and his father's bicycle and rode off towards the bridge that crosses the river, the river no one dares of face.

- As he rode on, he didn't let his tiredness stop him, he knew he had to push through. He kept a steady pace and peddled down the trail. He then felt something touch his face. He looked up and saw something he recognizes from a memory he was given. "Snow" he thought. It was snowing. He enjoyed the new sensation at first until he realized how cold it really was. He continued until he had to stop for rest.

- He had stopped a few times before for food and rest. But this time it was because he physically could not go on. He looked in his bag for any food, but it was all gone. He had given up and he couldn't feel any part of his body. Gabriel wouldn't stop crying, and he couldn't think about anything other than food and warmth. He had already shared a memory of food with Gabe, but when it was over he was starving more than before. He decides to try one more thing.
