  • In the mornings, on my way to school, I would listen to the same songs on the radio and overtime, my echoic memory allowed me to memorize the lyrics to the song by pairing it with the beat.
  • During Spanish class, Señora Gabi had us play a fun game to test our short-term memory by trying to collect matching cards. Each time someone would flip over two cards, and if they were matching, they would take them and get a point. If they weren't matching, we would flip them back over and the next person would go.
  • For homework, Mr. Mueller would assign us a lesson of Worldly Wise. I had to use effortful processing during the reading portion so that I was able to retain information from the story. After I finished reading, I would answer the questions to the story on the next pages.

  • At recess, everyone was always excited to play soccer. Before we could play, we first had to pick teams. The team captains would recall the teams from the previous day so that we could try to mix everyone up. As the school year progressed, the game became more competitive because everyone was improving. Passing and trapping became an automatic process for everyone.
  • I was always excited for lunch because it was right after recess and my mom would pack me a can of juice. The juice was wrapped in tin foil which came from the freezer the night before. The reason for this was because by the time I was ready to drink it, the juice was like a slushy. Once my friends found out about this, they were able to recognize the juice without me having to unwrap it from the tinfoil.
  • To learn more about different cultures, each of my classmates and I were assigned a culture to research. We then had to create a poster board and present our findings to the class. In order to help me memorize what I was going to say during my presentation, I used the spacing effect by practicing every couple of days. After a while this new information I was learning would transfer to my long-term memory.
