  • Oh! I have heard of the Bill of Rights, but I only know the first amendment, which protects people's rights to freedom of speech, press, assembly, and the right to petition the Government. Can you tell me about some of the other amendments?
  • Wow! I am happy that my rights are protected.
  • Sure! For example, the 2nd amendment protects the person's right to own weapons and to have a well regulated militia. The 4th amendment protects the people from unreasonable searches and seizures.
  • Wait, I have another question. So, for example when we vote, I always think about how there are big states and small states. So, how do we represent each state?
  • That's a great question! While big states, wanted their representatives to be based on population, smaller states wanted the number of representatives to be equal. So, they made the Great Compromise. The congress would be bicameral. The senate would have an equal number of representatives, and the house of representatives would be based on population.
  • Thank you so much, I've learned a lot about the 3 branches of government, the federalist system, the bill of rights, and how the congress is a bicameral legislature.
  • Of course! I'm glad you learned something.
