- The story was take places hundreds of years ago.. approximately around 500 A.D.
- Beowulf and Grendel are seen fighting here. Many people didnt believe that Beowulf was capable of taking on such a powerful creature! Despite his past, Beowulf outsmarted everyone, including Grendel.
- I Am Beowulf! I refuse to let a fraud take me out!
- My Arm!!! WHYY
- Beowulf has shown that he is a Hero and is indeed loyal to his men. Beowulf has taken selfless risks in order to keep everyone safe and to finally put an end to Grendel. Beowulf helped Hrothgar during a tough time and never once turned his back on him.
- Thank you so much Beowulf, you are truly a great man!
- Don't mention it Hrothgar, you've helped me in the past... its only right!"
- Here! Use my sword, it will help you defeat the monster!
- Beowulf didn't have the best childhood growing up. He was often in trouble and seen as a delinquent. Hrothgar eventually became his mentor and helped him prepare for the fight against Grendel which he uses as a guide for when he became king. Along with Hrothgar many others wanted to see Beowulf put Grendel to rest, so people gave him weapons and equipment for his safe return.
- Will all of this even work???
- Beowulf put himself first and stated if anything happens to him the Hrothgar will be in charge. Beowulf looks up to Hrothgar as a father. By doing this you can see that Beowulf is still looking out for his people and making sure they are in good hands if anything happens while he is gone.
- God Forbid anything shall happen to me. Hrothgar, you will be in charge if anything happens.
- Nonsense! You will become king when you come back! I will be right beside you!
- After defeating Grendel and proving his leadership, Beowulf became king! One of the most noticeable themes throughout the poem is good vs. bad. Although Beowulf may not have done everything right , he still wanted the same thing as everyone else. Which was defeating Grendel. Throughout this time, Beowulf was trying to get a sense of who he was. After everything that happened I guess Beowulf's protective qualities kicked in. This shows not all heroes wear capes!
