  • "Perhaps the Jaguar does," observed Whitney.
  • In this scene it is nighttime and Whitney and Rainsford are fighting because Raisnford thinks that animals don't have feeling. This is the exposition because you are meeting the characters and the main character Rainsford and we are finding out how he feels and what he thinks about hunting animals.
  • "Don't talk rot, Whitney," said Rainsford. "You're bigger. "Your a bug-game hunter, not a philosopher. Who cares how a jaguar feels.
  • In this scene it is the next day after Rainsford has awaken and found General Zaraoff's house. They are having dinner and General Zaraoff is telling Rainsford about how he hunts a ifferent kind of game that can reason. So General Zaraoff is telling Rainsford how he hunts humans and basically that Rainsford is his next hunt. This would be the rising action because it is going up to the climax we are learning that he is going to be hunted and he can't do anything about it.
  • "My dear fellow," said the general, "there is one that can"
  • "But you can't mean--" Gasped Rainsford
  • In this scene, the general had found Rainsford during the hunt. But instead of shooting and killing Rainsford he smiled and turned around and walked away. This would be part of the rising action because the General could've just killed Rainsford but instead, he wanted to keep the game going on longer so he turned around and walked away and was playing with Rainsford.
  • Rains ford's second thought was even more terrible. It sent a shudder o cold horror through his whole being. Why had the general smiled? Why had he turned back?
  • In this scene, Rainsford is deciding whether he wants to dive into the ocean or get hunted by General Zaraoff. This would be considered the climax because it is a tense part of the story we don't know whether he is going to jump or if he is going to be hunted and killed by Zaraoff.
  • "Twenty feet below him the sea rumbled and hissed. Rainsford hesitated . He heard the hounds. Then he leaped far out into the sea."
  • In this scene which would be considered the Falling action General Zaraoff has found Rainsford in his room and Rainsford is basically telling General Zaraoff that he is still hunting. And General Zaraoff is scared for what might Rainsford do to him.
  • "I am still the beast at bay" he said in a hoarse voice. "Get ready General Zaraoff"
  • "I congratulate you. he said You have won the game."
  • "He had never slept in a better bed, Rainsford decided."
  • In this scene the resolution the problem of human hunting has been solved because Rainsford has killed the General and so the General can't hunt humans anymore.
