- Exposition (Ponyboy and Johnny meet Bob and Randy)
- Rising Action (Johnny kills a Soc)
- Rising Action (The Church Fire)
- On the way back from the drive-in, Ponyboy and Johnny walk both Cherry and Marcia home but come upon their boyfriends, Randy and Bob, who are drunk and get mad for trying to pick up their girls.
- Climax (The Rumble)
- When Ponyboy and Johnny took a walk in the park some Socs walked up to them, including Randy and Bob. They threatened to drown him but in self-defence, because they were drunk, Johnny killed Bob with his switch-blade that he always kept!
- Falling Action (Johnny Dies)
- When Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally return to the Church up in Windrixville they come back to the wonderful surprise of a Fire in the Church. Johnny, Ponyboy, and Dally go in and save the little children but Johnny and Dally are taken to the hospitsl due to injures.
- Resolution (Ponyboy gets to live with Darry)
- Because of Bob's death, there was a rumble set for 7:00pm and took place in the park. It was raining which made it a little more difficult to see and be able to fight. At the end the Socs ended up losing and the Greasers were screaming in joy that they had won!
- After the Rumble Dally and Ponyboy went to go see Johnny and tell him that they won the rumble. But besides the news he had said would die and his last words were at Ponyboy. When he died Daly went crazy and was later shot because he robed a grocery store!
- Ever since Ponyboy left home he had been failing school. One night Darry got mad at him because he hadn't started on his Theme for English!
