A big thunderstorm is headed your way, it's supposed to hit around 5am. I don't think you should bike tomorrow, it is going to be too dangerous.
our mom called us very worried about what was to come
We made a plan to be up by 3:30am the next morning in order to beat the storm and arrive in Walker before it hit. This we knew was the hardest 12 miles out of the entire trip.
wake up by 3:30
get to Walker before the storm at 5:45am
On the trail biking by 4:00
We can see how the weather is looking while we eat breakfast
and so we continued on our way
walker- 12 miles
As thunder was cracking above us we decided to keep biking in order to finish our journey to Bemidji.
Bemidji- 45 miles
It rained until we reached Bemidji State Park, where our adventure would end. Throughout this whole day we battled dogs chasing us, lightening and thunder, and a lack of energy for 7 hours while we finished our goal of biking the entirety of the Paul Bunyan trail.
Looking back I still cannot believe that we accomplished a dream that had been established nearly three years prior. This trip taught me so much about perseverance and trust. I would not trade or change this experience from anything else.
