- During the 1600's, at a carnival Montreso and Fortunato meet.
- Climax
- Fortunato had insulted Montresor. Since then Montresor has been seeking his revenge.
- Falling Action
- Montresor invites Fortunato to try the amontillado. He takes him to the catacombs for the wine, and gets him drunk.
- Resolution
- When they are deep in the catacombs, Montresor chains Fortunato to a wall inside a small alcove and begins sealing off with a wall of bricks.
- While Montresor is burying him, they had a conversation, and they both express their panic.
- Montresor lived his life, and Fortunato in pace requiescat.
