  • Inside the cell
  • If more negative attitude people line up on a particular side of the classroom the overall attitude of that side is negative.
  • Outside the cell
  • Not exactly like a cell but at rest there is a high number of sodium ions outside the membrane meaning the internal charge is negative.
  • If positive attitude people move from outside to inside where there is already negative attitude people the overall attitude now shifts to positive.
  • Inside the cell
  • Outside the cell
  • This is like when Depolarization occurs and the gated sodium channel is opened and now the inside is positively charged.
  • If positive attitude people move out of the inside, that side of the cell side becomes more negative.
  • Inside the cell
  • When channel doors switch, the potassium channel opens. Potassium ions move outside causing the inside of the cell to become more negative again. This is called re-polarization
  • Outside the cell
  • After the pump returns to rest using active transport, what happens next is when the action potential reaches the end of the axon at the axon terminal
  • This could be similar to holding students in school and not letting them leave while they are all in the same space. Students here would represent neurotransmitters.
  • When students are released to buses, it is similar to when neurotransmitters are released to attach to receptors.
  • After attaching the action potential spreads to the next cell which is like when students go home and share the information from school at their own homes.
