- Ani dies to begin his journey to the afterlife
- His body gets mummified by priests. They remove every organ in the body except the heart. Then he gets stuffed with a salt called natron and then wrapped in resin soaked linen. In a addition to help Ani in his travels the wrappings are woven with charms for protection.
- Ani's spirit needs to go through the underworld but he had to dodge beasts and evil creatures that try and consume his soul. Fortunently he has a scroll that helps him through the underworld to reach the hall of Ma'at goddess of truth and justice
- Then he get judged by 42 assessor and each of them has to be convinced that he lived a righteous life. He does this by going up to each one nd presents a sin that he has not committed.
- Ani's heart was weighed against a pure ostrich feather so that it can either prove that Ani's heart if pure or not. If the heart is heavier then his heart will be eaten by the monster Ammit and if not he gets into the afterlife where he grow crops and plough land
