  • Act IV, Scene 1
  • "this is a slight unmeritable man."
  • Act IV, Scene 2
  • Antony and Octavius
  • Cassius and Brutus
  • Act IV, Scene 2
  • "Then in my tent, Cassius, enlarge your griefs"
  • Antony, Octavius, and Lepidus gather to create a list of senators that need to be assonated. Lepidus briefly leaves and while he is gone Antony expresses his true feelings about him. This surprises Octavius.
  • Act IV, Scene 3
  • "There is my dagger"
  • A war has broken out in Rome. One side is led by Antony and Octavius and the other side is led by Brutus and Cassius. Both sides have assembled an army to fight for power over Rome.
  • Act IV, Scene 3
  • "Love and be friends"
  • Brutus and Cassius get into a disagreement about whether or not the soldiers should be bribed to fight. Brutus sees that the argument is getting more intense so he tells Cassius to move this talk to the tent.
  • Act IV, Scene 3
  • The argument between the two gets extremely heated. Eventually, Cassius asks Brutus to stab and kill him. This statement ends the argument, and Brutus tells Cassius how Portia has killed herself.
  • After the two have reconciled a poet comes into the tent uninvited and tells the two to "Love and be friends". Both Cassius and Brutus laugh at this and tell the poet to leave.
  • When everyone is asleep the ghost of Caesar appears to Brutus, and tells him that he will see him at Philippi. Brutus is startled by this and awakes the others.
