- There was once a girl called Bholi, or simpleminded. Her real name was Sulekha but due to how she was a bit backwards and dumb and due to her dangerous encounter with smallpox early in her life, she was scarred with pox marks.
- Sir! What a pleasant surprise! How are you?
- Great to see you Ramlal, I came here to inaugurate a new school. By the way, have all your daughters finished their education?
- One day, Bholi's marriage was fixed without her consent. Yet she agreed. But when her groom asked for more dowry because of her pox marks....
- Not all sir... You know about Bholi... If I send her no one will marry her.
- Ramlal, you are the revenue officer. It is your duty and responsibility to set an example for all the other villagers.
- What!!! We can't send her to school. No one will marry her

- I don't have a choice! The Tehsildar is adamant about this! Anyway let the teachers handle her.
- And thus Bholi was sent to school reluctantly.

- And thus, Bholi was taken under the teacher's wing. She brought her up along the years, educating her and revatilizing her confidence in herself.
- Yes my dear child yes.
- I refuse this marriage! Damn it with izzat! I will live my life as I want to! But don't worry mother and father, for I will provide for you, right ma'am?
- The teacher stared at her masterpiece: Bholi had transformed from a poor, stammering timid girl into a powerful, confident and educated woman as her teacher had instended.
