- Arise, go up to Beth-el, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God that appear unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.
- Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments. Let us arise, and go to Beth-el; and I will make there an altar unto God.
- They gave their strange gods and their earrings to Jacob. And Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.
- And they journeyed and the Lord was with them and protected them from any harm and danger. Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is, Beth-el, with this family.
- You will now be called Israel. And the land which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give thee, and thy seed.
- Jacob set up an altar and poured water then poured oil thereon. He called the name of the place where God spake with him, Beth-el.
