- One of the biggest changes is the introduction of "day-one rights". This means that employees will be protected from unfair dismissal from their first day of employment. They will also be entitled to sick pay from their first day of illness. This is a huge improvement on the current system, where workers have to wait two years before they get these protections. Another important change is the way zero-hours contracts are handled. Under the new bill, employees on zero-hours contracts will be able to guarantee working hours if they want them. This means that they won't be stuck in a situation where they are only offered work sporadically and have no control over their income. Finally, the bill also introduces new measures to prevent harassment. Employers will be required to take steps to prevent sexual harassment and third-party harassment. This is a really important step in creating a safer and more respectful workplace for everyone.
