  • "Pride, prestige and art incarnate in animal flesh."The narrator is looking at the Wonder Horse for the first time. He is describing what it's like to see him with his own eyes. This is an important part of the story because this is the first time he see the Wonder Horse in person. He describes how the Wonder Horse is a fantastic creature.
  • "As still as sculptured marble, he allowed himself to be admired." The narrator has gone in search of the Wonder Horse and he found him. This scene is important because he is thinking about being able to capture the Wonder Horse. He also has been thinking about capturing the Wonder Horse a lot and now the Wonder Horse is right in front of him.
  • "The horse leaps. I whirl the rope and throw the obedient lasso." The narrator has finally captured the Wonder Horse after chasing him through the snow. The scene is important because the narrator caught the Wonder Horse. The narrator begins to notice that the Wonder Horse is getting tired and isn't a mythological creature. He realizes the the Wonder Horse is really smart and he's not scared. The narrator is very proud of his accomplishment.
  • "I suffered for him. The indignity. The humiliation. Majesty degraded." The narrator is leading the Wonder Horse through the town. The Wonder Horse is beginning to feel scared and falls on the road. The scene is important because the narrator starts to feel bad for the Wonder Horse after he's captured him. It shows that the narrator is looking at the Wonder Horse as a horse and not a fantastic creature.
  • "I decide to turn him loose in the fenced pasture." The narrators has brought the Wonder Horse home and is trying to figure out where to put him. This scene is important because it shows that the narrator still believes the Wonder Horse is special even though he's just a regular white horse. This shows that the narrator is a believer and wants to be nice to the Wonder Horse. He is excited to have captured him and feels like a man.
  • "It was a barbed wire fence. There was white hair on the wire. There was blood on the barbs" The Wonder Horse escaped! He jumped over the barbed wire fence and he disappeared. This scene is important because the narrator feels sad that the Wonder Horse is gone but he's also happy that the Wonder Horse is free. This shows that the narrator is a very good person. He cares about the Wonder Horse and wants him to be free.
