  • A. Hello! I am Toleen and I am a medical consultant. My job is to help provide treatment. I research and analyze just to help you overcome your diseases or conditions. A part of my job is to make sure your information remains private. So how may I help you right now?
  • B. Hi, I’m Sarah.
  • A. I’ve been having a high fever, headaches, and a few minor fatigues in the past few days.
  • B. So those are your symptoms? What have you been doing the past few days?
  • I had a meeting to meet new colleagues, I ordered food from a restaurant the past two days, and I went on a hiking trip with my dog.
  • B. I was wearing black shorts and a navy blue t-shirt. I touched my dog multiple times and I definitely didn’t have any insect repellent. I also couldn’t shower because I arrived home very late.
  • A. What were you wearing in the hiking trip? Did you touch your dog? Did you use insect repellent? And did you shower after?
  • B. I don’t think it’s food poisoning because I’ve been eating at that restaurant for three years! So it’s probably Lyme disease! How long will it last?
  • A. This could be food poisoning, or it could be Lyme disease. Lyme disease is when a tick bites you. The tick has the bacteria called Borrelia burgdorferi. Just be aware of any rash that might be on your skin.
  • B. Hopefully the symptoms don’t become too severe! How does treatment work?
  • A. Lyme disease usually lasts 6 months. The symptoms might interfere with your daily activities, but you will be treated.
