  • This artifact grants three wishes, but be weary that it was cursed to prove life is determined by fate.
  • I wish for £200
  • We could use that 200 pounds to pay off the house
  • Agreed
  • I wish for my son back!!!
  • Sergeant-Major Morris, a family acquaintance, of the White Family pays a visit. He takes a little, mummified paw from his pocket at the request of Mr. and Mrs. Whites. He explains that a fakir cast a spell on the paw to demonstrate that people's lives are guided by fate and that interfering with fate is perilous. No one wanted to buy or auction for the paw so the White Family received it.
  • Wish him back!
  • Look, the death of our son and that money has no correlation.
  • Mr. White claims to have everything he desires and is unsure what he should wish for. Herbert suggests, two hundred pounds would be enough to pay off the house. Mr. White then wished for £200. Mr. White screams and claims that the paw in his palm moved like a snake.
  • KNOCK KNOCK!
  • The next day, while Herbert was at work, Mrs. White notices a stranger outside dressed in nice clothes. She opens the door and He greets himself and states that he is Hebert's employer. When Mrs. White asked if Herbert was okay the employers says says "he is hurt, but in no pain." Giving Mrs. White the clue that her son has passed. He follows that up with saying The company will not take responsibility or the passing but will compensate the White Family with £200 .
  • I wish for my son back!!!
  • Days sadly went by when Mrs. White suddenly exclaims, "I want the monkey's paw!" She tells him to go downstairs and wish Herbert back to life in hysterics. Mr. White refuses, telling her that Herbert's death and the £200 they had received had nothing to do with his wish the night before. Mrs. White ignores and continues to insist.
  • He makes the wish and shortly after waiting with Mrs. White, they hear a knock at the door. Also the candle that was lit up in the room goes out.
  • Mr. White begs her not to open the door, but she pushes past him and dashes downstairs. The knocking gets louder as she tries to reach the bolt. Mr. White hurriedly scans the floor for the paw that has fallen. Mr. White finds the paw and makes one last wish as Mrs. White pulls back the bolt. Mrs. White screams when the knocking ceases. Mr. White rushes downstairs to find the street empty beyond the door.
