  • Russian Revolution: The Perspective from Lenin
  • Lenin: Looking back, the most important thing I faced in life was the Russian Revolution. It was the turning point for the country and for myself. Let me start with the causes. After the loss of the Russo-Japanese War, Russia completely lost its hope of total domination across Asia, and instead the defeat to Japan brought in political unrest for the nation.
  • The February Revolution
  • Lenin: The failure of the Tsar Nicholas II's government in directing WW1 completely shifted the attitudes the citizen's felt towards the Russian nation. This marked the need for the citizens to fight for the rights, leading into the February Revolution in 1917 (Feb.23rd). It was a revolution first started by working women's marches at the Petrogard Streets during the International Women's Day. The workers protested on short food supplies and demanded for higher wages.

  • Peace, Bread, and Land! New Russia!
  • Lenin: In April of 1917, the German's sensed that I was going to bring a great move to Russia again and so they sent me back to Russia after 10 years of exile in Switzerland. When I came back, I immediately gave multiple speeches about my perspectives on the political situation of Russia.
  • I was communicating about the next steps and the tactics in the revolution with Trotsky, my right-hand military general.
  • The government and the tsar's reactions made it hopeless for the people within the nation. After the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905), there was no way the Russian army could continue to fight another major war, the World War1. However, the army still fought bravely against its opponents (Central Powers) and tried it's best to save it's allies (France form Germany's attack). The result instead was more struggles of the Russian army in the war and within the country itself.
  • The October (Bolshevik) Revolution
  • Trotsky, my friend! It's so nice to invite you here. I want to talk about our next step and also look back at our accomplishments.
  • General said that there are enemy's at the front! The rest stay back while the others go and target the enemies immediately!
  • The Tsar failed his control of the war because of building no efficient administration to ensure adequate weaponry, efficiency of transportation, and food and medical care. This resulted in the Russian Army to lack basic materials in the war, and also lack good generals and commanders in modern military techniques. The revolution resulted in the fact that the tsar Nicholas II had to abdicate his throne, replacing the monarchical system with a Provisional Government .
  • Civil War
  • Lenin: I admired the had efforts that my army had paid off during--Ahh! It is my stroke torturing me again.
  • Doctor: Lenin, you are awake! You need to rest in order to heal.
  • Lenin was a major communist leader who founded the Bolsheviks party in the Provisional government and created the first Marxist country in 1903. He believed that violence and bloodshed was the way to overthrow the old system. Joseph Stalin, the general secretary of the Communist party supported Lenin throughout his political efforts.
  • Resolution
  • After the Russian civil war, the Bolsheviks to adopted a 'New Economic Policy' declared by Lenin in 1921 in which elements of capitalism would boost productivity. Lenin's death in 1924 resulted in the two political rivals, Stalin and Trotsky to combat with each other through different political views. Stalin expelled Trotsky in 1929, and assassinated Trotsky in 1940 in Mexico.
  • In October 1917, the last major phase of the Russian Revolution, occurred which was known as the Bolshevik Revolution. This a movement in which the Bolshevik's grasped major control of Petrograd, and later the whole Russia which completely marked the defeat of the Provisional Government. Leon Trotsky was a major military commander who organized the armies, helping the Bolsheviks to later on win the civil war.
  • Of course Lenin, that would be a pleasure.
  • The Russian Civil War (1918-1920s.) It was caused by the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk,treaty signed between the Central Powers and Russia to end Russia's participation in the WW1 in 1918 (Mar). However this treaty yielded large portions of Russian territory to Germany which created the ability for the Mensheviks and other opposing political powers to seek ways to overthrow the Bolsheviks. Later on, the Red Army that Trotsky built defeated the White Forces in opposition ending the conflict.
  • The Red Army Bolsheviks.
  • Lenin: I have to finish the stor-(Lenin, January, 1924)
  • In 1922, the USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) was founded. The Russian Revolution helped overthrow the monarchical system of the Romanov Dynasty and establish the world's first communist government. The revolution also helped to spread the political system, Communism, significantly. It helped set stage for the rise of the Soviet Union as a world power that would go head-to-head with the U.S. during the Cold War.
  • 10 million lives were lost as a result of the Russian Civil War and thousands of people were died of starvation, citizens were murdered, and tortured.
