- Paul knew that if he didn't not take these people in, they would be dead. His awareness that life is previous and is not endless motivated his brave actions. As he watched the buses pull away, he became their protector as all the others had left. He showed that all moments in life matter, no matter who you are.
- I was fortunate to say goodbye to my grandmother. Some aren't, as Elie and Paul both missed goodbyes to their loved ones. As I would have liked to hold on as they tried, life is not in our hands. I had to enjoy the moments that I had and understand that would have to be enough. I am thankful I was able to do so as COVID almost prevented it. My children did not, because of that.
