- Discrimination is prohibited!!!
- The civil rights act of 1964 prohibited all discrimination whether is was against race, sex, religion, etc. African Americans were the main ones who benefitted. It led to the civil rights movement because of the discrimination getting outlawed.
- VOTING RIGHTS ACT1965
- The Voting Rights Act allowed African Americans to vote and took away literacy tests. Before this African Americans could not vote because of things like literacy tests. It was effective in the civil rights movement.

- By not allowing African Americans to vote it goes against their right!! These barriers will be abolished!!
- We want to make sure we have the right to vote!!!!
- Marchers marched from Selma to the capital of Montgomery exercising their right to vote because segregationist were making it impossible. When this happened, state troopers attacked the marchers leaving them injured, bloodied or unconscious. This march made the federal gov take action.
