  • Engle is told that the Soviets are bad, and America is good. She questions Cuba's place in it all. She wonders if she will be the enemy to her Cuban family. God loves everyone equally, whether they are American, Cuban, or Soviet.

  • Enchanted Air: Engle's Mean Teacher from What Am I?
  • Engle's teacher yells at her in school and makes her feel bad for having Cuban heritage, though young Engle does not quite understand why. She finds her teacher to be ignorant and dismisses her but still feels bad. Unlike her teacher, God values everyone equally, despite where they came from.
  • Despite coming from a vastly different background, and being looked down upon by others, Ruth was accepted by Boaz (and Naomi). God does not judge by the outward appearances of man, rather by the heart.
