  • Canadian Demographic Transition Model Storyboard By: Mia Kovacic
  • Last time we had to move because of food shortages we lost five kids.
  • Stage #1: We have to move up North because there are no more turkeys to hunt for food in this area.
  • Stage #2: I am off to my job on the farm and I am taking Bob and Tom to work with me. Hope Johnny feels better once the doctor comes by.
  • I am so relieved that a doctor can come and give him penicillin.
  • Stages of the demographic transition model in Canadian history.
  • Stage #3: We are only going to have two kids because it's too expensive to have any more children in Toronto.
  • About time! Are you coming to the Women's Rights protest with me?
  • I wish I could go to work like my husband.
  • I sure am!
  • Stage #1: Pre-Transition/High Stationary Stage in Canada occurred when there was a high birth rate and a high death rate so there was a low population growth rate. Hunting and gathering , diseases and unstable life was common.
  • Would you like to get a drink with me after work? I have no kids at home so I'm staying out as late as I want!
  • Stage #4: Women are finally allowed to work and make their own money.
  • Stage #2: Early Transition/Early Expansion Stage in Canada occured when there was a decrease in birth rates and an increase in death rates so there was a rise in total population. There were improvements to healthcare, vaccinations as well as technological advances.
  • Stage #5: Unfortunately, there are not enough surgeons to do your life saving procedure. We will have to postpone it till tomorrow.
  • Stage #3: Late Transition/ Late Expansion Stage in Canada occured when there was a decrease in birth and death rates. Families started to move into the city and it become more expensive to have more children.
  • Stage #4: Post Transition/ Low Expanding Stage occurred in Canada when the birth and death rate were both low, resulting in the total population to decline. Women entering the workplace allowed for a decrease in family size.
  • Stage #5: Declining Stage in Canada occurred when the death rate became higher than the birth rate resulting in negative population growth. The aging population weren't getting support and started to die off.
