- This shows Character vs Nature, because The Character is shown clearly having a conflict with the Bear. The bear would be part of nature, and Lyddie is struggling to keep her family safe from the bear in their house. This shows the conflict between Lyddie and Nature.
- This shows Character vs Character, because the Lyddie is shown here having a Conflict with another Character. Lyddie had just returned from her travel back to her home, however she left without the Mistress's permission which made her very mad, and once Lyddie returned they had a conflict. Mrs. Cutler ended up firing Lyddie, which shows the conflict between Lyddie and other Characters.
- This panel shows Character vs Self. In this panel, Lyddie had just reached home, on her travels without Mrs. Cutler's permission. However to her surprise she finds a black man named Ezekial in her house. At first she has an internal conflict, whether or not to report this man for being an escaped slave. This shows her internal conflict, which would be Character vs. Self
