  • The prophase is the initial stage of mitosis, when the chromosomes emerge as paired chromatids and the nuclear envelope vanishes. She also showed how the chromosomes bind to the spindle fiber, which ultimately connects to the centromere.
  • The spindle fibers are connected to the sister chromatids at the centromere during the prophase. The centrioles then shift to the opposite sides of the cell. During metaphase, spindle fibers draw sister chromatids together in the cell's center, which is known as the equator.
  • The doctor explained to Brayleen how the third step, the anaphase, aids in his healing by allowing him to produce more cells. The doubled pair of chromosomes then separates into two identical groups that migrate to opposing ends of the cell during anaphase.
