- Madame Loisel and her husband were invited to a ball and she didn't have a dress to wear. Her husband gave her money to buy a fancy dress. But she has no jewelry tp wear. Her husband didn't hesitate and told her to ask her friend Madame Forestier.

- Madame Loisel went to her friend, Madame Forestier and asked her if she had any fancy necklace for her to lend. Madame Forestier lend her beautiful diamond necklace.

- Madame Loisel together with her husband went to the ball. She was the fanciest woman in the ball, impressing everyone around.

- I've spent 10 years working to pay your diamond necklace.
- When they came home from the ball, Madame Loisel noticed that the necklace was missing. She decided not to tell Madame Forestier about what had happened because she thought she would get mad.
