- After a battle, Macbeth runs into the three witches who prophesied his rise to the throne. and Banquo and his children will succeed him as king. Macbeth returns to his hometown after meeting the three witches.
- Thou shalt get kings, though thou be none: So All hail Macbeth, and Banquo. Your children and descendants will be kings
- No more that thane of Cawdor shall deceiveOur bosom interest: go pronounce his present death, And with his former title greet Macbeth.
- King Duncan visited Macbeth in his castle following his return home to express his congratulations. As a result of Macbeth's victory in the fight, King Duncan informs him that he will succeed to the throne of Cawdor. After this conversation, Macbeth goes into a room with lady macbeth.
- When Macbeth enters the room where Lady Macbeth is, she encourages him to kill King Duncan because they are the next in line to the throne. Lady Macbeth points out that even though Macbeth says he cannot and doesn't want to, if he doesn't do it, he is not a man. So Macbeth thinks about it and say he will do it.
