- In areas of human civilization that rely mainly on water and streams to cultivate their land, erosion can have a huge impact on the lives of people.
- For example, the Sundarbans in India are populated by people who rely on their streams and water for daily living. They can be affected greatly if erosion decides to have a bad day and decides to move sediments into important areas which could result in big floods.
- These breakwaters can be impacted by climate change if sea levels were to rise in the future. The breakwaters would then be less effective and can cause a number of human lives to be greatly affected.
- Other populated locations like Miami, Florida may have a shoreline. Areas such as this may have what is called a BREAKWATER. It is a type of structure that is built to protect the shoreline from big waves that may come its way. It is a permanent structure which is usually parallel to the shoreline.
- I'm back in my ship everybody so my time is up, but just remember that erosion is one of the most important factors of why our Earth looks the way it does today, along with a concept called WEATHERING, which is when rocks are simply exposed to the natural forces of weather.
