- Wicked gave them food because they were starving when they got out of the Maze. Rat Man came to tell them about the journey for the second phase of the trials. This phase is called The Scorch Trials.
- They were headed for the scorch through the flat trains, they ran into a metal ball. The ball ate two of the people. until it melted in the scorch.
- They were in the scorch with Cranks that have a deadly virus called The Flare. The scorch is a hot desert that was formed by sun flares that hit the earth bringing the virus called The Flare. The Flare has multiple stages.
- Teresa is found but she has betrayed Thomas by sacrificing him for group B. She put him in a gas chamber. Later, she opened the door and told him is was all a skit. Then they tried to find the safe haven.
- After a lot of time traveling through the scorch, they finally found the safe haven, a stick. They had to fight monsters, then the burg came. (the helicopter)
- Thomas was in the burg when someone said that The Flare was rooted inside his brain. He didn't remember anything after that. He then woke up in a white room and stayed there for days. End of book two.
