- Red blood cells have a protein called hemoglobin. Hemoglobin picks up oxygen from the lungs and then gives and brings it to the rest of the body.
- Red blood cells, also known as RBC looks like a flattened basketball.
- RBC live for 120 days and everyday the body makes new ones to replace the dead ones. 45% of your blood is RBC
- Some tell the body that it's been invaded. Some make and produce chemicals to fight the invaders. Some kill and surround the organisms.
- Only about 1% of your blood is white blood cells.
- White blood cells also known as WBC are bigger than RBC . They are known as the "Disease Fighters"
- Platelets are tiny round cells. They look like plates too! The function of the platelets is to form blood clots when you get a cut.
- Also a temporary plug would form in the wound and that helps it to stop bleeding. Less than 1% of your blood is made up of platelets.
- Plasma is a yellowish liquid. It's 55% of your blood. Plasma carries nutrients, hormones, and proteins through the body.
- Plasma also carries away cell waste and gets rid ofit. Hormones carry messages throughout your body, tells it when and what to do.
